Ajara BooksThis website, www.ajaysinghtomar.com, is run by Ajay Singh Tomar, who writes as part of Ajara with Dr. Rashmi Singh (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how we handle your personal data under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.
We are a small author website. We collect only what we need to send you a book or a chapter, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
When you pre-order a paperback: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, the order reference shown on the page and the UPI transaction ID (UTR) you enter. We do not receive your bank details, card numbers or UPI PIN: you pay in your own UPI app, and we only see the payment arriving in our account with your UPI name and reference.
When you ask for the sample chapter: your name, phone number and email address.
When you email us or join the WhatsApp book club: whatever you choose to send us, and your WhatsApp name and number, which other members of the group can also see.
When you browse: our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) to run and protect the site. On the live site, Google Analytics records how pages are used (pages viewed, rough location, device type) using cookies. The pre-order page also keeps your order reference in your browser’s session storage so it survives a reload; it is deleted when you close the tab.
Why we use it
- To deliver your pre-order: to match your payment, place your order and send it to your address, and email you about it. (Basis: you asked us to, and you gave consent on the form.)
- To send the sample chapter and launch updates you signed up for. (Basis: consent.)
- To answer your messages.
- To understand which pages are read so we can improve the site. (Analytics only, without identifying you.)
- To keep records the law requires, such as payment records.
We don’t use your data for anything else, and we don’t send marketing from anyone but us.
Who we share it with
Only with the services that do the work for us, and only what each one needs:
- Amazon and its delivery partners: for a paperback pre-order we place the order on Amazon on launch day, so your name, phone number and delivery address go to Amazon to deliver it.
- Cloudflare (hosting) and Google (Google Analytics).
- Our email provider, to write to you.
- [The service that stores form submissions, once chosen.]
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you join the book club, under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
Some of these services store data outside India. We may also disclose data if the law or a court requires it.
How long we keep it
- Pre-order details: until your order is delivered and any refund is settled, then up to [8] years for payment and tax records.
- Sample-chapter and launch-update list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Emails: as long as needed to answer you, then deleted within [2] years.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and who we’ve shared it with;
- correct, complete or update it;
- delete it (unless we must keep it by law, like payment records);
- stop sending you updates, at any time, by replying “unsubscribe” or emailing us;
- name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or can’t act yourself.
Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it. If you withdraw consent for an order that hasn’t shipped, we’ll cancel it and refund you under our refund policy.
Email connect@ajaysinghtomar.com with your request. We’ll reply within [7] days. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Cookies
The live site uses Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to count visits. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out add-on; the site works the same without them. We don’t use advertising cookies.
Children
This site is for adults. If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to pre-order or sign up for you.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and only the authors can see order and sign-up details. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and email you about any important change if you’re on our list.
